Yvonne Gutierrez

Yvonne Gutierrez is an executive leader and strategist with 18 years of community engagement, relationship and coalition building, program and campaign development, fundraising, and public affairs experience. Throughout her award-winning career, Yvonne has proudly worked with many community, organizational and political leaders and led diverse teams on the issues of reproductive rights, gender equity, and political access for BIPOC women as well as voter engagement campaigns.

Yvonne began her career with Planned Parenthood in Texas, where she spent nearly 15 years advocating for all Texans’ reproductive health and rights. As Vice President of Public Affairs for PP South Texas (PPST), Yvonne worked throughout the region to build support for the organization with elected and community leaders and partner organizations. She also served as a primary spokesperson for the organization, tripling positive earned media hits.

Yvonne then moved up to lead as Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Relations at Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast (Texas and Louisiana) where she successfully lobbied state legislatures in Texas and Louisiana and oversaw grassroots organizing efforts. Yvonne also co-led the 2013 “Stand with Texas Women” campaign and developed and managed legislative and statewide grassroots organizing strategies aroundWendy Davis’ historic filibuster.

In 2014, Yvonne co-founded Planned Parenthood Texas Votes (PPTV), the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood in Texas. She served as its first executive director, holding the position for over five years. During her time as ED, Yvonne developed and executed statewide plans for electoral, legislative, and organizing campaigns that successfully defended against 90+% of anti-choice bills and reached more than 400,000 voters per election cycle. Her efforts more than doubled the organizations’ supporter base from less than 500,000 to more than 1M and increased revenue by 75%.

Yvonne then joined the leadership team of Supermajority, a member-based organization that trains and mobilizes women of all ages, races and backgrounds to advocate for gender equity and get out the vote. As Head of Community Engagement for Supermajority, Yvonne oversaw outreach for all organizational partnerships expanding support for Supermajority’s campaign initiatives. Notably, she built partnerships for Supermajority with over 200 state-based organizations and BIPOC women leaders in over 20 cities and led 25 national gender justice and advocacy organizations to partner in national voting campaigns.

Dedicating her life to civic engagement, Yvonne serves as vice-chair of the board of directors for Rewire News and as a board member of the Workers Defense Action Fund. Most recently, Yvonne was selected to serve on the advisory board for the Gender Equity Action Fund. She previously chaired the board of directors for the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health and served on the Planned Parenthood Action Fund PAC committee.

In 2018, Yvonne was selected as a fellow in the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) Binational Fellowship program for outstanding Latina professionals. In 2016, she was chosen as a fellow in the Rockwood Leadership Institute Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice Fellowship program. Yvonne is a native Texan and lives in Austin.
