The Latino Victory Project Applauds Congressional Decision to End Political Theatre in the Funding of the Department of Homeland Security

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the House of Representatives passed a nine month funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security absent of any attempts to repeal President Obama’s executive action on immigration. The legislation is now headed to President Obama’s desk for his signature. Cristóbal Alex, the President of the Latino Victory Project, released the following statement:

“As expected, the politically charged attempts by a majority of Republicans in Congress to repeal the President’s action on immigration through the Department of Homeland Security was just smoke and mirrors. The move was an unnecessary burden on the millions of hardworking families who stand to benefit from these needed immigration reforms. This is the type of politicking that continues to disenchant American voters and foster the overwhelming sense that Washington only creates problems rather than solutions. Voters will remember the unacceptable antics of the extremists in Congress who have attempted to repeal the President’s executive action. We look forward to reminding the growing Latino community about these actions ahead of November 2016.”
