Latino Victory Project on the Anniversary of DACA

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today marks the 4-year anniversary of the announcement of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA).

Following is a statement from César Blanco, interim director of Latino Victory Project:

“Four years ago President Obama announced the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Since then, DACA has benefitted over 800,000 DREAMers who are now able to live, study and work without fear of deportation.

At a time when xenophobic and hateful attacks are on the rise, we must come together as a country to fight back against assaults towards the American people. We must expand and support programs like DACA and DAPA, and provide deferred action to those who are Americans in all but paper.”

“DACAmented DREAMers have been pivotal in the fight for protections for the immigrant community, and in the fight for equal rights and justice for others. Their tenacity, strength, and perseverance make us proud and embody what is best about this country.”
