Latino Victory Fund Condemns House Vote to Repeal Obamacare

WASHINGTON—Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted in favor of preliminary legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. The vote passed 227 to 198. Cristóbal Alex, Latino Victory Fund president, issued the following statement:

“The Republicans say this vote is the first step to repealing Obamacare as if it were a panacea and it’s not,” said Alex. “The truth is that it’s the first step towards taking away healthcare for 20 million Americans, including 4 million Latinos, who have a livelihood safety net thanks to Obamacare. Latinos are already one of the most underserved communities when it comes to healthcare affordability, and senseless, political ploys like the Obamacare repeal only serve to deepen this wound.

“We will fight tooth and nail to ensure that we hold accountable those who seek to harm our community and that do not have our nation’s best interests at heart.”
