Latino Victory Project Statement on the Second Anniversary of Hurricane Maria

Latino Victory Project Executive Director Mayra Macías issued the following statement on the second anniversary of Hurricane Maria impacting Puerto Rico:

“On the second anniversary of Hurricane Maria, we remember the thousands of people who lost their lives. We also stand with the survivors, who in the face of a devastating disaster, have shown nothing but courage and resilience. Puerto Ricans are still rebuilding their livelihoods, and now more than ever, progressive allies must unequivocally and collectively show their support for the people of Puerto Rico.

“As President Trump continues to denigrate Latinos and lie about the relief Puerto Rico actually received, we must repudiate and call out his lies and remind the American people of this administration’s failure to appropriately respond after Hurricane Maria.

“Latino Victory Project commends the efforts by Power 4 Puerto Rico to shed light on the most pressing issues affecting the island and the diaspora. We proudly join their ‘#ShowUsYourPRPolicy’ call to action to demand that every presidential hopeful present a concrete and comprehensive policy on Puerto Rico.”
